While most design problems may be concerned with the practical, the every-day, and the current, it is often equally important and valuable to consider the far future. What will our planet look like? What sorts of technological systems may exist? And how do we as humans integrate into and live within these new methods of reality? Most importantly, what then is Architecture? Here, through the notion of the "XYZ Lab", the attempt was to explore these questions.
Given a completely self-contained system, floating out on the sea, how might the communities of people and space evolve? Why not allow these spaces to grow and merge as plants do, to use the methods of process-based evolution and to allow for a new form to take place. As people moved between these nodes, across these forms, the form itself would be pushed and pulled by their movement. Connections form and dissolve as use changes and recedes. And ultimately, these users leave, pushing out of the mold like spores into the vast world beyond.
